The year 1975
In 1975 URW launched Ikarus, a program invented by Dr Peter Karow designed to digitize typefaces by drawing outlines using splines. It was used by several companies to convert their libraries to digital format, including Agfa-Compugraphic, ITC, Linotype, and Monotype.
The most popular font released in 1975 was Plaza, designed by Alan Meeks.
