Allen Mercer
Allen Mercer graduated from Delcastle Vocational and Technical High School, and then continued his education at Temple University's Tyler School of Art. During his degree, he studied abroad for a year, returning to the United States in 1993. He graduated from Tyler in 1994. While at Tyler, he acted as mentor to Ken Barber. Their paths were later to cross again at House Industries, the typography, illustration, design and clothing studio.
Allen joined founders Rich Roat and Andy Cruz at House Industries after turning down various lucrative offers. He is the designer of some of its best-selling fonts, including Funhouse and Randumhouse.
In 1998, he gave up his partnership at House Industries to become a Christian missionary. With his wife Sharon and their children, he now lives in Hungary. He operates a Christian global outreach program.
