Wöllmer Type Foundry (1854-1938)

The Wöllmer Type Foundry was founded in Berlin by blackletter and script type designer Wilhelm Wöllmer. After working as first assistant in the commercial type foundry of Eduard Haenel, in 1854 Wöllmer he started a business manufacturing letterpress equipment. In 1864 he supplemented the business by opening a type foundry, which remained in operation until 1938 when some of the fonts were acquired by Genzsch & Heyse, Klingspor foundry, and Weber type foundry.
