Farmer, Little & Co. (1862-1892)
Farmer, Little & Co. was formed when Charles T. White sold his type foundry to three of his associates, Aaron D. Farmer, Andrew Little, and John Bentley. Farmer's son William W. Farmer also became a partner. The business prospered, selling printing presses, equipment, and many original typefaces.
In 1892 when American Type Founders was being formed Aaron and William Farmer refused to join the new conglomerate, so they bought out the interests of Andrew Little and John Bentley, who retired, and continued under the name A. D. Farmer & Son.
