Great Western Foundry (1868-1869)
The Great Western Type Foundry was originally set up in 1868 by Herman F. Toepfer, an experienced type founder who had emigrated to the USA from Germany with his sons 18 years earlier. However, following the death of the father and two of the sons it was sold in 1869 and became Barnhart Brothers & Spindler.
