Inland Type Foundry (1895-1912)

The Inland Type Foundry was founded in 1895 in St. Louis, Missouri, USA, with the direct aim of competing with American Type Founders. It was set up by the sons of Carl Schraubstadter Sr., who had sold the Boston and Central type foundries to ATF three years earlier: William A. Schraubstadter, Oswald Schraubstadter, and Carl Schraubstadter, Jr.

Later it opened branch offices in Chicago and New York City, and became one of the most successful American type foundries. Although it was founded to compete directly with American Type Founders, and was consistently profitable, it was eventually sold to ATF in 1912.
