Rudo Spemann (1905-1947)

Rudo Spemann was a German calligrapher, artist, and teacher.

Between 1924 and 1930 he studied at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Munich under F. H. Ehmcke and Emil Preetorius, and at the Kunstakademie in Stuttgart under F. H. Ernst Schneidler. In 1930 he became Schneidler's assistant.

In 1935 he started working as a freelance graphic artist in Munich. In 1937 he became a lecturer at the Akademie für Graphische Künste und Buchgewerbe in Leipzig. The city of Offenbach has awarded the Rudo Spemann Prize in memory of Spemann’s work every two years since 1954.
