Alexander Phemister (1829-1894)
Alexander Phemister was a Scottish punchcutter. He was born in Edinburgh in 1829, and worked for Miller & Richard in Edinburgh. In 1861 he emigrated to the USA where he initially worked for the Bruce's Type Foundry in New York. Later he moved to the Dickinson Type Foundry in Boston. He died in 1894 in Chelsea, Massachusetts, USA.
