Steven Skaggs
Steven Skaggs is a native of Louisville, Kentucky and received an MS degree in Communication Design from Pratt Institute. He studied with Hermann Zapf in 1980 and 1981. His calligraphy is in the collections of the Sackner Archive in Miami, the Akademie der Künste (Berlin), and the Klingspor Museum. His book "Logos: The Development of Visual Symbols" appeared in 1994 (Thompson) and a book of poems, "Poems From Elsewhere" (Arable Press) in 2006.
He is Professor of Design at the Hite Art Institute at the University of Louisville, he is head of the Communication Art and Design program. His typeface, Rieven Uncial, won a Certificate of Excellence in the 2010 TDC2 competition.
