José Mendoza y Almeida
José Mendoza y Almeida is a French graphic designer, calligrapher, and type designer, and the son of typographer Guillermo de Mendoza. In the early 1950s he worked with Max Vox, and from 1954 to 1959 he was assistant to Excoffon within Fonderie Olive in Marseille. He subsequently worked for several major foundries including the Amsterdam Foundry, Monotype Corporation, and ITC, and then from 1985 to 1990 taught typography at the Atelier National de Création Typographique (ANCT).
