Daniel Utz
Daniel Utz was born in the south of Germany. He studied Visual Communication at the Hochschule für Gestaltung in Schwäbisch Gmünd. After stops in Paris at Philippe Apeloig, London, Munich, Ulm, and Stuttgart, Daniel is back at the Hochschule für Gestaltung in Schwäbisch Gmünd where he teaches typography, information visualisation, and transmedia design.
Together with students and a colleague there, in 2018 he launched OpenMoji, an open source emoji system.
The focus of Daniel's work is the development of glyph sets beyond the classic range of letters that include symbols, icons, and pictograms – and which should ideally form a coherent whole.
