Thaddeus Szumilas
Born in 1951, in Poland, Thaddeus Szumilas moved to the USA in 1966, seeking freedom in a democratic country. He attended Haaren High School and then Parson's School of Design, where he majored in graphic design. Under John Pistilli at Sudler & Hennessey he gained practical experience. With Lubalin, Smith & Carnase Design Studio, he has worked all over the world on various projects, including book jackets, packaging materials, and corporate identity.
Currently, he teaches both the basic and advanced typography courses at the Pratt Institute, in Brooklyn, New York. He still actively designs both text and display typefaces.
