J. G. I. Breitkopf (1719-1794)
Johann Gottlob Immanuel Breitkopf was a German music publisher and typographer. He was born in Leipzig and attended the University of Leipzig. He studied history and mathematics which led him to a scientific study of printing, resulting in improvements in the printing of German text and musical notation. He revolutionized the printing of musical scores using movable types, and designed the font subsequently named Breitkopf Fraktur.
