Artur Schmal
Artur Schmal graduated in 2003 with a master’s degree in design from the Type and Media course at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague. Since then he has been working in both graphic- and type design, creating custom type, logos, identities, books, websites and magazines. His work in graphic design is often build around a strong typographic foundation.
Artur has released his typefaces Parry and Parry Grotesque through the Belgian type label TypeBy, and since its release it has found applications in corporate identities, subtile book typography, magazines and billboard-sized advertising campaigns.
Schmal is based in the center of Amsterdam, where he shares studio space with other creative minds. He also gives workshops and incidentally collaborates with other designers on diverse projects.
Besides type design he enjoys discovering wines, playing guitar, and practising the art of doing nothing.
