Luc Devroye
Luc Devroye was born in Tienen, Belgium, and went to the University of Leuven in Belgium. After obtaining a Ph.D. from the University of Texas in 1976, he joined the School of Computer Science at McGill University.
His research there has included projects in typography, including Arabic fonts, random fonts, and computer-generated symbol fonts.
He also maintains a comprehensive Web site on "Type Design, Typography, Typefaces, and Fonts", which includes exhaustive information about typefaces by language, freeware/shareware fonts, books on typography, font software, handwriting fonts, special fonts, and type scenes by country.
