Thomas Lincoln

Thomas Lincoln

Thomas Lincoln was born in Eugene, Oregon, USA, in 1939. He studied with Douglas Lynch, Arnold Bank and Lloyd Reynolds at Portland's Museum Art School. In 1965 his original font, Lincoln Gothic, a sans serif homage to the Trajan Inscription, was a winner in The First National Typeface Design Competition sponsored by VGC.

After a stint as an agency art director, Lincoln moved to New York City where he joined the staff of Herb Lubalin, Inc. Lincoln continued his studies with Milton Glaser at the School of Visual Arts, and practiced graphic design in New York for several years before returning to Oregon, where he shares his home with two furry creatures, Stinky and Mr. Miagi, and where he pursues a passion for fly fishing and a new found interest in sculpture.
