Michael Scarpitti
Born in Columbus, USA, Michael Scarpitti has a strong interest and skills in both graphic and verbal communications.
He started studying photography in high school, and went to study for a degree in philosophy at the Ohio State University. Since graduating, he has established himself as a prolific font designer, particularly those based on Latin inscriptions, inspired by Carol Twombly's Trajan. More recently, he has become interested in medieval styles, producing more than 20 fonts based on ancient historical materials.
He currently works at Scriptorium, in Austin, Texas. His articles about translation and semiotics have been published in the journal Semiotica. He enjoys sports, particularly tennis and soccer.
