Michel Besnard
Born in Tours, France in 1942, Michel Besnard was the artist in residence at the Ecole Régionale d'Arts (regional art school) in Martinique between 1984 and 1989. He held the same post at the Ecole Régionale des Beaux-Arts (regional school of fine arts) in Rouen from 1966 until 2002.
Since the 1980s, he has been exhibiting his sculptures and art works. Together with his wife Roselyne, he has produced many typefaces, which are licensed by Monotype in the USA. They have been creating fonts since the 1970s. Their work goes under the banner Besnard Typo.
He has given papers at many art and typography conferences across the world. His travels have taken him across Europe, as well as North, South, and Central America. He lives in Rouen.
