Gabriel Martinez Meave
Mexican Gabriel Martinez Meave studied at the University of Iberoamericana, but describes himself as a self-taught graphic and letterform designer. He is also an illustrator and calligrapher.
His work has appeared in magazines such as How, Step, Communication Arts, Matiz, and Étapes. He has won various awards from the Type Directors Club of New York and ATypI; he is a member of both organizations.
He lectures and gives workshops throughout the world. At Typ09 he gave a paper entitled "The Feathered Mouse", discussing letterform aesthetics at the crossroads of technology and tradition. He also teaches at the Universidad Anáhuac.
He is the founder and director of Kimera Studio.
