Gustav Jaeger

Born in 1925 in Germany, Gustav Jaeger is the son of a printer. From an early age, he was enthusiastic about lettering and type. He completed his schooling, then continued his studies at the Hochschule für Gestaltung in Offenbach am Main.

He began his career with the Bauer Type Foundry, developing specimens promoting the work of both Konrad Bauer and Walter Baum. Encouraged in his work by Bauer, he went on to design contemporary display typefaces for the H Berthold AG foundry. He then progressed to creating text types. He proved successful creating text typefaces, contributing significantly to the Berthold library.
