Dung van Meerbeeck
Born in Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon), Vietnam, in 1958, Dung van Meerbeeck was adopted aged 10 by a Belgian family. Although he began his higher education career studying electronic engineering, he switched to typography at La Cambre, a high art school in Brussels, after a year. While there he discovered his passion for logotypes, lettering, and calligraphy.
He spent 11 years as a senior design and computer manager for Design Board, a packaging bureau in Brussels. His interest in and desire to keep up with the latest computer technologies led to him working in multimedia, creating CD-ROMs and websites. He has also been the director of the interactive production department at Saatchi & Saatchi in Brussels.
He now shares his time between web design, application development, and teaching. In 1992 he won the FontFont award for DuBrancusi.
