Ramiz Guseynov

Ramiz Guseynov

Born in Russia. Originally trained as an architect, his professional career began as a graphic designer working on corporate identity projects with a strong emphasis on typography. Back then it was mostly the need for the conversion of Roman typefaces into Cyrillic. Later, working at the Moscow Design Research Institute (VNIITE) during the participation in the complex branding program project for the national Electric Measuring Devices Corporation, Guseynov created the original typeface family "Pribornyi". The typeface was established as the national standard (GOST) for the industry. While working at several ad agencies, design studios and later at his own studio, Guseynov has received numerous national and international recognitions for design excellence.

In 1991 he moved to USA and continued working as a professional graphic designer with a strong passion for typography. In his spare time he has created a number of new digital fonts, some of which were distributed through T26 foundry. In 2004 he established the TipografiaRamis font foundry to market his digital fonts.

Guseynov's design interests include revealing possibilities for creating new typefaces in a geometrical way by using simple basic form elements for shaping letterforms. He is a member of the Type Directors Club (TDC).
