Hans van Maanen
Hans van Maanen was born in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, in 1950, has been interested in fonts all his life. As a science journalist and writer, he output many characters at the final end of the production line, but lately has turned his interests to the other end: font designing and digitizing.
His main interest is Dutch fonts from the beginning of the 19th century, the time of Jan van Krimpen, Sjoerd Hendrik De Roos , Stefan Schlesinger, and other less well-known font designers - an important part of Dutch pre-war cultural heritage.
His fonts are published by Canada Type. Among his best known fonts are the De Roos types Dutch Mediaeval and Roos, and Schlesinger's Minuet and Serena.
