Born and raised in Massachusetts close to the home of W.A. Dwiggins, Brian Lucid graduated from Rhode Island School of Design. Since his sophomore year, he has concentrated on typography and traditional typographic form, studying graphic design, typographic history and how type designers - past and present - have influenced it. His concern: How can the designer use the computer to create typefaces that do not simply mimic past technologies, but instead encourage new and innovative forms of typographic expression, particularly through interaction with the user?
